Celebrating Leadership: Ashley Nowell Named One of Union County’s 2025 Women to Watch
This honor recognizes outstanding women between the ages of 21–39 who demonstrate professional excellence, community impact, and a bright future ahead.
We’re thrilled to share that Ashley Nowell, Executive Director of the Downtown Waxhaw Association (DWA), has been recognized as one of Union County Chamber’s 2025 Women to Watch! The award was presented on October 8, 2025, during the Chamber’s annual Women in Business Awards celebration.
A LEADER BUILDING DOWNTOWN’S FUTURE
Ashley’s leadership has been transformational for downtown Waxhaw. She revitalized the town’s Main Street Program, achieving national accreditation and laying the groundwork for sustainable downtown growth. Her ability to connect the dots between the public, private, and nonprofit sectors has helped create a thriving, collaborative downtown community.
Ashley was also instrumental in founding the Downtown Waxhaw Association, bringing together business owners, residents, and town partners to preserve Waxhaw’s charm while guiding its future.
A HEART FOR COMMUNITY
In addition to her role at DWA, Ashley volunteers with the Waxhaw Business Association and Union County Chamber of Commerce, lending her time and expertise to strengthen small businesses and foster meaningful local connections.
When presenting the award, Chamber leaders shared:
