Step into Waxhaw’s eerie past on this ghostly guided walking tour, presented by the Downtown Waxhaw Association, Waxhaw Historic Preservation Commission, and Waxhaw Community Theatre.

Your guide will lead you through 135+ years of local legends, chilling tales, and forgotten lore, bringing Waxhaw’s history and mystery to life after dark.

  • Tours take place on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7:00 PM, 7:30 PM, 8:30 PM, and 9:00 PM.

  • Each lasts about 60–75 minutes and is limited to 16 participants.

  • Recommended for ages 8+ (children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult).

All proceeds benefit the Downtown Waxhaw Association, with support from our local preservation and theatre partners.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Check-in at the Duncan McDonald House (115 McDonald St., Waxhaw, NC). Tours depart promptly — please arrive a few minutes early.

  • Each tour lasts approximately 60–75 minutes.

  • Tours will take place rain or shine. If severe weather threatens public safety, tours will be rescheduled for the rain date of Saturday, Nov. 1.

    If you are unable to attend on the rescheduled date, you will receive a full refund.

  • This is a walking tour covering several downtown blocks. Some stops may have limited accessibility.

    • Comfortable shoes for uneven surfaces

    • Weather-appropriate clothing

    • Small flashlight (optional; guides will carry lanterns)

  • Coolers and alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

  • Tours are capped at 16 participants to preserve the spooky experience.
