We are currently accepting applications for two volunteer positions beginning July 1, 2026.
Downtown Waxhaw is shaped by the people who care about it.
Our board is made up of local business owners, property owners, residents, and community leaders who work together to support small businesses, enhance downtown, and guide its future.
This is an opportunity to:
➜ Help shape the direction of downtown
➜ Support local businesses and community events
➜ Be part of meaningful projects and initiatives
➜ Connect with others who care about Waxhaw
Board members serve as leaders, advocates, and partners in building a strong and welcoming downtown.
We’re looking for individuals who:
➜ Care about Downtown Waxhaw
➜ Bring diverse perspectives and ideas
➜ Are willing to contribute time and energy
➜ Want to be part of something meaningful
We are currently accepting applications for two board positions beginning July 1, 2026.
These volunteer positions include:
➜ One three-year term
➜ One two-year term (to complete an existing term)
Applications are open through May 17, 2026.
Who we are.
The Downtown Waxhaw Association (DWA) is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization that champions the heart of Waxhaw.
As stewards of our past and advocates for our future, we bring people, ideas, and partners together to strengthen downtown as a place to live, work, and gather.
At our core, our vision is simple: to make people feel good in downtown spaces.
When we create experiences that connect people to place, the result is stronger businesses, meaningful memories, and a downtown that grows with purpose, pride, and people at the center.
What we do.
We believe great downtowns don’t happen by chance—they happen by choice. Through the nationally recognized Main Street Program, we focus on:
Supporting small businesses through promotions, shop-local campaigns, and resources.
Preserving heritage by honoring Waxhaw’s history, traditions, and unique character.
Creating opportunities with events, partnerships, and public space improvements that welcome everyone.
Building community pride by fostering collaboration, creativity, and a shared vision for the future.
